Benbrook Lake Fishing Guide
Angling Opportunities
Largemouth bass are the most popular sport fish in the reservoir. Hybrid striped bass are stocked annually and there is an excellent fishery for them. Channel and blue catfish are abundant; white bass and crappie provide good fishing opportunities.
Cover & Structure
Lake Benbrook has little aquatic vegetation. Most structure is in the form of dead trees and underwater ridges or humps.
Tips & Tactics
Early spring is the best time to catch lunker largemouth bass in Benbrook Lake, fishing the mouths of the creeks. Hybrid striped bass fishing picks up in the late spring and early summer months, fishing the humps and ridges found in the main lake near the dam. Blue catfish are found near the river channel in winter in deep water. Crappie gather in brush to spawn then move to deeper water where they can be caught on live minnows. White bass and channel catfish are good targets in summer months.
Fishing Regulations
All species at Benbrook Lake are managed under standard Texas statewide regulations.
