Cover & Structure
Structure in Champion Creek Reservoir includes deep rocky drop-offs and ledges, rip-rap, underwater humps, and a few old tank dams. The water is fairly clear near the dam and gets more turbid upstream.TPWD has worked with local partners to install additional fish habitat structure. None.
Tips & Tactics
Trolling crankbaits and rattling baits in the main lake near humps and drop-offs is very effective for white bass. Largemouth bass can be caught fishing live or artificial baits along the rip-rap, flooded terrestrial vegetation, and along the drop-offs and ledges. White crappie are caught fishing minnows and jigs along ledges and underwater humps. Catfishes are caught using live and prepared baits along the ledges and drop-offs, and along the river channel.
